Etymology:

Elements  ----  Headdress (growing plants屮) + mother 母. Phonetic series 每.

A mother 母 with a nice headdress 人 symbolizing exuberance.  Later each, every, as each mother must wear a headdress as the ornament that reflects her status.

每处     měichù – everywhere (every + place)

Discussion and sources

Karlgren (1957) says that its original meaning was flourishing, rich, abundant.  Xiong (2006) sees a woman with a headdress of feathers. Ji Kexi (2010) thinks it is an ornament. Ma (2008) that it is a hairpin.
